Knitting, Beanie, Toque
The Amalgamation Beanie is knit with two strands of worsted weight yarn held together, creating a thick, warm hat that’s perfect for chilly days. Made from scrap cakes, each version becomes a unique amalgamation of colors, making it a true one-of-a-kind stash-busting project.
The pattern is provided in two variations – knit flat and seamed or knit seamlessly in the round. Work according to preference.

Sizes: One size. Due to the stretchy nature of both Garter Stitch and doubled yarn, this hat will fit most adult heads.
Finished measurements: 19”/48 cm brim circumference & 10”/25 cm depth from crown to lower edge.
Gauge: 12 stitches and 22 rows = 4”/10 cm in garter stitch holding two strands of worsted weight yarn together using size needle to obtain gauge.
Needles: US 11 (8 mm) knitting needle or size needed for gauge for hat knit flat. US 11 (8 mm) 16”/40 cm circular needles and US 11 (8 mm) double pointed needles for hat knit in the round. Adjust needle size as necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Yarn: Approximately 220 yards total of worsted weight (CYCA #4) yarn. The yarn will be held double strand for the hat, and the yardage amount listed accounts for that.
“Scrap Cakes” of various colors and fibers of worsted weight yarns were used in the sample hat.
Other Materials: Stitch marker, tapestry needle.
This pattern includes instructions for knitting in the round, working flat, and creating seamless stripes. The adult-sized beanie is fitted and requires basic seaming at the end.
