**This sweater is a homage to my sweet shouty Atari Teenage Kitten and her perfect butt, and to all those wonderful and perfectly-butted cats who selflessly parade, tail-up, so that we lesser beings can gaze upon the perfection of the cat butt.**
  
There are charts for a single-coloured cat, tuxie and calico cats, and a blank chart so that you can add your own cat or cats to a sweater.

**Construction**
  
The front and back are both knit top down, and in the same way. You’ll begin by working the left and right shoulders separately, using short rows to shape the shoulder slant. The left and right shoulders are then joined, and you knit straight down, adding your intarsia cat(s) and pausing at the hem.
  
When both sides are complete you’ll seam the shoulders, and from the base of the sleeve to the hem. You’ll then pick up the sleeves and knit them in the round, finishing with a gathered icord cuff. You’ll pick up stitches around the neckline and knit an icord collar, and you’ll knit the underside of the turned hem, and stitch that down.
  
You’ll pick up some stitches for the tail, and knit that as a long tube. You’ll embroider the little butt \* and - if you didn’t intarsia them - the eyes and optional snoot, and stitch down the tail - and you'll have the best butt sweater! 

 

2025's epic knitalong is a huge blanket - or several smaller blankets.

It's a modular knit, built up with squares and octogons, so you can choose the size of blanket you want.

The pattern will be released gradually over the year. Each release will have a couple of big octies, and a couple of smaller squares or triangles.

Each update will each have one easy, gentle octie - nice relaxing colourwork - and one more complicated octie. It's up to you whether you knit one of each or stick just to the gentle or spicy side. There'll also be a couple of square / half-square patterns in each update. These will all be nice gentle knitting. 

There will also be a series of little mini-pattern that use the octies and squares.

The pattern update schedule is something like:

* Mid February: Octies 1 & 2.
* Start of April: Octies 3 & 4.
* Mid May: Octies 5 & 6.
* Start of July: Octies 7 & 8.
* Mid August: Octies 9 & 10.
* Start of October: Octies 11 & 12.
* November: Sewing up, border, finishing. (sorry about this last bit)

The pattern includes guidance for working with 4ply and DK yarns.

The blanket as written, with twelve octies, will measure 155 x 200cm using DK yarn and 120 x 155cm using 4ply - but there's plenty of guidance for making a larger or smaller blanket.



This advent-calendar knit can be worn as a giant winter cocoon-scarf or as a more elegant draped wrap. It also makes a wonderful cat nest (or so my cat tells me, loudly, whenever I try to claim it back from underneath her).

The Catvent Wrap has 25 panels, each with a little gentle knit excitement to keep you one-more-row-ing throughout December (or any other month). It's designed to work with yarn advent calendars, but it will also work well with scraps or stashed yarn.

The finished, blocked wrap is 270cm long and 60cm deep.

The Sunset Sweater is perfect for cool summer evenings and chilly autumn days - or wear it in winter as a reminder that the warmth and the light will return.

This sunny sweater has a slightly cropped, swishy shape, wide sleeves that gather at the wrist and the simplest of intarsia - and you can embroider it with the story of your sunset!

**The sunset**

This is a gentle intarsia project, with usually only three strands of yarn in use, and with a maximum of five at any time, and there are also instructions for knitting either the front or the back in a single shade.

The pattern includes embroidery tutorials for duplicate-stitching a little more detail in, and adding stars to the sky.

**Sizing information**

There are ten sizes included in the pattern, with chest circumference measurements from 90cm to 180cm. There's also plenty of guidance for adjusting the sleeve and body length.

**Yarn**

I used cotton and laceweight fluff held together to knit this sweater but if you prefer to use just a single strand of yarn a DK weight yarn will work just fine.

The Sun Stop Shawl is a lovely exploration of texture and stripe. There are sections of yarn-contrast colourwork where we mix the floof and silk, patches of daisy stitch and geometric openwork, and eyelet stripes, and it's finished with a fluffy hem and pretty picots.

It's fun to knit, too - the pattern switches often enough to keep you engaged, and each section itself is a fairly straightforward knit. The last section, with those subtle fluffy stripes, practically knits itself. (And, ok, the picot bindoff might generate a few swears, but it is absolutely worth it.)

My working-name for this shawl was **EPIC**, and the shawl does not dsappoint. The finished blocked shawl measures 240cm from tip to tip, and is 115cm deep along the spine.

**Yarn**

Two shades of Yarn A
100gr/ 400 metres of a 4-ply yarn in each colour.

Two similar or identical shades in Yarn B
50gr/ 400 metres of a light and fluffy lace-weight yarn in each colour.

You want a contrast in texture between the two yarns. Look for something strong and lustrous for yarn A - a silk or silk-blend yarn is perfect, but tencel or mercerised cotton could also work well.

For yarn B you’re looking for fluff!  Mohair is perfect, but a brushed suri alpace would also work well.

I used Caitin Silk (100% silk) for yarn A, and Caitin Fluff (68% mohair, 32% silk) for yarn B, in the colourways Peony (shade one) and Honey Honey (shade two). [Kits for this shawl are available here.][1]

**Colour choices**

When choosing your colours look for two that will look good both striped and blended together. Combinations of similar-hued light and dark yarns will work well, as will shades that are not too far apart on the colour wheel.

It can be useful to imagine that the yarn is paint, and to picture what colour you’d end up with if you mixed the two.

Any two primary colours should mix well - like the pink and yellow I’ve used - as should any primary with its neighbouring secondary shades. Two secondary shades may work well but there’s a bit more potential for muddiness. Opposing colours - red with green, for example - will probably work up dull and a little muddy in the fluff sections (although the stripes will pop).

We're heading to the remote Scottish island of Summerisle for this  little cat-socky homage to to the classic folk horror film The Wicker Man.  I've taken the maypole image from that film and run with with for a sharp geometric pattern, topped with cats.

The pattern has two sets of charts, so that you can knit yourself mirror-image symmetrical socks if you want.

There’s a hint of warmth to the sunshine, and a fuzz of green on the branches. It is SPRING!  I always let the weather go to my head - at the first signs of spring I want to plan picnics and park expeditions and trips to the beach.

The Catty Carousel Cardigan is a fitted cardigan with a bold carousel-inspired colourwork yoke, and little colourwork sparkles at the neck, wrists and hem.
It is designed to work with yarn advent calendars, but you can also link it up with your scrap pile or use a single shade of main colour yarn.

It comes in fifteen sizes - to fit chest sizes from 72.5 - 177.5cm with 5cm of positive ease.

As written, the pattern is knit in the round and steeked, but there's guidance for a flat-knit cardigan if you'd prefer to not steek, and for a sweater version.

White Cats In The Black Lodge is a Twin Peaks-inspired sweater with a round colourwork yoke and little hem and cuff detailing.

The pattern includes both child and adult versions.

**Construction details**

This is a top-down sweater. It's knit in the round, with short-row shaping for the neckline, a stranded-colourwork yoke and little colourwork details around the hem and cuffs.

Catmint is a cropped and very oversized sweater with a pretty flower and cat yoke pattern and billowing sleeves. It’s also - on me, anyway - a massively confidence-boosting knit. When I wear this 
sweater I stand up straighter - shoulders back,  chin up - and I feel that I can conquer the world.

This sweater is designed to be worn with a lot of ease - at least 20cm, and up to about 50cm. It’s oversized everywhere, with a deep yoke and wide sleeves. The turned hem adds some weight and swish.

If you love the yoke of this sweater but not the oversized crop shape don't worry; I'll be releasing a more conventionally shapes  sweater with the same pattern later this year.

**Yarn**

The sweater pictured here was knit in Rosy Green Wool Lovely Merino Treat (210m to 100gr, 100% organic merino wool). I used shade 114 (Taupe) for the main colour, and shade 053 (Sand) for the contrast.

The alternative yoke was knit in John Arbon Devonia DK in Cinder Glow for the main colour. For the contrast I used Devonia 4ply, held double, in Broken Flower, Amber Blaze, Pollen Gold and Sugar Snap.

Meltwater is a crescent-shaped shawl that uses stripes, slip-stitches, and nupps to create a subtle droplet design. The shawl is completed with a neat picot bindoff.

This shawl is 180cm from tip to tip (a), 50cm deep (b), and 250cm around the bottom edge (c).

It's a perfect shawl for showcasing that mini-skein set or that precious skein.
